Clacton Drivers Get Upgraded Car Park as £95,000 Works Finish Early

Clacton Wellesley Road Car Park Reopens After £95,000 Revamp Drivers, shoppers and visitors can return to Wellesley Road Car Park in Clacton from Thursday 24 September following a £95,000 improvement scheme by Tendring District Council. The town-centre car park has been resurfaced and fitted with new pay-and-display machines, with the work completed ahead of its original schedule. Wellesley Road car park reopens early The improvement works began on 14 September and were originally expected to take two weeks to complete. However, the council has confirmed that the project has been finished early, allowing the car park to reopen on Thursday 24 September. The upgrade is intended to provide a cleaner and more welcoming facility for residents, shoppers, local businesses and visitors using the centre of Clacton. Councillor Mick Barry, Tendring District Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Realm, said the investment formed part of the council's wider strategy to support town centres and improve public facilities. He also thanked the council's teams and contractors for completing the project quickly while maintaining the expected standards. New parking machines installed As part of the £95,000 scheme, new pay-and-display machines have been installed at Wellesley Road Car Park. The resurfacing and payment-machine improvements mean drivers returning to the car park from Thursday will be using the upgraded facilities. For motorists, improvements to the physical condition of a car park and its payment facilities can make a difference to the overall parking experience, particularly at busy town-centre locations. Tendring District Council said good-quality parking remains important to local residents and to the area's economy because it helps people access town centres, the seafront and local businesses. The council also highlighted its Householder Parking Permit and said it continues to offer parking charges it considers affordable compared with other locations in Essex. More Tendring car parks recognised The Wellesley Road improvement comes shortly after 11 more council-run car parks in Tendring received Safer Parking Scheme awards. Those sites were recognised for meeting standards covering areas including safety, cleanliness, lighting and management. The latest awards bring the total number of Tendring car parks recognised through the scheme to 32. For drivers visiting Clacton, the reopening means Wellesley Road Car Park is available again after the temporary closure, while the new machines and resurfaced area provide an upgraded parking facility in the town centre. EveryonesParking can also help drivers plan ahead when visiting busy town centres by looking for suitable parking options before setting off, particularly when demand for convenient spaces is high. The Wellesley Road project is another example of how changes to car parks can affect drivers beyond the parking tariff itself, with resurfacing, payment equipment, safety and availability all playing a role in the parking experience.
