Croydon Roads Face Parking Bans and Closures From September 21

Several Croydon roads will face closures, parking suspensions and traffic restrictions from September 21 as gas, drainage, sewer and cable works take place. Brickwood Road, Coombe Road, Heathfield Road, Fairdene Road, Dunstan Road and Foxley Lane are among the affected locations.

Croydon Drivers Warned Over New Parking Restrictions and Road Closures

Croydon Roads Face Parking Bans and Closures From 21 September Drivers in Croydon are being warned about a series of road closures, parking suspensions and traffic restrictions starting from September 21 as improvement works take place across the borough. The works will affect Brickwood Road, Coombe Road, Heathfield Road, Fairdene Road, Dunstan Road and Foxley Lane, with restrictions introduced at different locations over the coming weeks. For drivers who regularly park on these roads, the changes could mean finding alternative parking and allowing extra time for journeys. Brickwood Road parking bays suspended Brickwood Road will be closed between the rear boundary of 57 Addiscombe Road and the common boundary of 6 and 8 Brickwood Road to allow new gas connection works. Parking bays outside numbers 3 to 13 and 8 to 16 Brickwood Road will be suspended, while waiting and loading restrictions will apply at all times in the affected areas. The road's existing one-way system will also be suspended during the closure, allowing two-way traffic through the affected section. A diversion will operate via Addiscombe Road, Chisholm Road and Cedar Road, with the works expected to take around five days from September 21. More restrictions across Croydon Separate works on Coombe Road and Heathfield Road will also affect drivers from September 21, with Coombe Road closed eastbound between Edridge Road and Park Lane. Vehicles will also be prevented from turning right from Heathfield Road into Coombe Road while sewer cover repairs are carried out. Drivers heading towards St Peter's Junction will be diverted via South End, A235 Southbridge Road and B275 St Peter's Road, while another route is provided for traffic travelling from South End towards St Peter's Road junction. In Coulsdon, Fairdene Road will be closed between the specified property boundaries, while Dunstan Road will also be closed at its junction with Fairdene Road. Parking will be suspended within the closure area and waiting and loading restrictions will apply throughout the works. The Fairdene Road works are due to start on September 21 and are expected to continue until October 2, with diversions available via Westwood Road and Reddown Road. Foxley Lane parking restrictions Purley drivers will also face parking restrictions on Foxley Lane while cable installation works take place for a new development. Parking will be suspended on both sides of the road outside numbers 30 to 42, with waiting and loading restrictions applying at all times. The north-eastern footway will also be closed to pedestrians, with alternative routes provided using the opposite footway or a temporary walkway in the carriageway. These restrictions are due to begin on September 22, with the works expected to be completed by October 5. For drivers, the key point is that the restrictions apply to specific roads and dates, so vehicles should not be left in suspended bays simply because they are normally available for parking. The various traffic orders will remain in force for 18 months to allow for additional works if required, although the individual works have shorter expected completion dates. Anyone travelling through or parking in the affected areas should check signs and temporary restrictions before leaving their vehicle. EveryonesParking can help drivers plan parking before travelling, particularly when normal parking spaces are temporarily unavailable because of roadworks, events or other restrictions. With several Croydon roads affected from September 21, drivers who normally park in the area should plan ahead and allow for the possibility of closures, diversions and suspended parking bays.
