Notting Hill Carnival 2026: Drivers Warned of Road Closures and Parking Restrictions Drivers heading into the Notting Hill Carnival area have been warned that widespread road closures and parking restrictions will affect the area from Saturday 29 August through to Tuesday 1 September. The restrictions are being introduced to help keep people safe during Carnival, with most roads in the Carnival area due to close from 6am on Sunday 30 August until 6am on Tuesday 1 September, or until it is safe for them to reopen. Parking Restrictions Start on Saturday Night Most parking restrictions will begin earlier, from 11.59pm on Saturday 29 August, and will remain in place until 6am on Tuesday 1 September. Drivers are being advised to check the interactive Carnival event map and look for any additional restrictions before travelling, as further measures may be introduced closer to the event. During road closure periods, access to the Carnival area will be limited to pre-authorised Carnival vehicles and emergency services. All other vehicles will be refused entry. Residents living inside the Carnival area who need their vehicles during the event are being told to move them outside the area before restrictions begin on Saturday 29 August. New Notting Hill Gate Closure for 2026 A new traffic measure for 2026 will see a section of Notting Hill Gate closed to all traffic except buses on Sunday 30 August and Monday 31 August. The exact closure times are expected to be confirmed closer to the event, while traffic will be diverted through Addison Road, Kensington High Street and Kensington Church Street. To help manage traffic around the closure, roads south of Notting Hill Gate will operate as access-only routes. Parking restrictions and enforcement will also be in place. Further Parking Restrictions Across the Area Additional waiting restrictions will be enforced in Pembridge Ward and parts of Norland Ward and Campden Ward on Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August. There will also be local road closures around Kensal Road on Saturday 29 August, running from 11am until midnight, to facilitate the Panorama event. Drivers are being encouraged to check the latest information before setting off, particularly if they live near the Carnival area or need to travel through affected roads. Residents should also check for restrictions on roads close to their homes, as these could affect their route out of the area. Those who have moved their vehicles are advised to leave it as late as possible before driving back into the Carnival area. The restrictions mean drivers should plan ahead rather than attempting to enter affected streets during the event. Parking enforcement will be active in areas where restrictions apply.
