More Than 500 Parking Tickets Issued at Nottingham Goose Fair as Cars Are Towed Away More than 500 drivers have received parking tickets during the first weekend of Nottingham's Goose Fair, with some vehicles also removed from streets around the Forest Recreation Ground. Nottingham City Council said 530 Penalty Charge Notices were issued between Friday and Sunday, September 25 to 27, to vehicles parked in restricted areas around the annual fair. The event is running until October 4, with parking restrictions in place on more than 30 residential streets surrounding the Forest Recreation Ground. Hundreds of drivers caught by parking restrictions The council said an estimated 172,962 people attended the first three days of Goose Fair, creating significant demand for parking around the event site. As well as the 530 PCNs, up to 15 vehicles were removed altogether during the weekend. Footage shared on social media showed a vehicle being towed away by Nottingham City Council's vehicle enforcement team on Forest Road East. The temporary restrictions are intended to reduce the impact of the event on local residents and help maintain access to properties and roads used by emergency vehicles. The council has expanded its temporary permit parking scheme on roads surrounding the Forest Recreation Ground this year. Drivers warned to check restrictions Nottingham City Council has warned visitors that vehicles parked inside the restricted areas could receive a PCN and, in some cases, be removed. The council is encouraging people travelling to Goose Fair to check parking restrictions and event travel information before setting off. Visitors who are unfamiliar with the area may therefore face particular difficulties if they attempt to find parking close to the fair without checking the restrictions first. Where can Goose Fair visitors park? The council advises drivers travelling to Goose Fair to use city-centre car parks rather than attempting to park on residential streets around the Forest Recreation Ground. Suggested options include car parks at Victoria Centre, Trinity Square and Broad Marsh. However, public transport has also been affected this year, with NET tram strikes coinciding with the first weekend of the fair. No trams ran across Nottingham during the first weekend, while services are expected to operate on weekdays between the affected weekends. Blue Badge parking also available Blue Badge holders can use the Forest Recreation Ground for a £10 parking fee, according to the information provided by the council. Nottingham City Transport buses have continued to operate, with some services using double-decker buses to provide additional capacity. For anyone still planning to attend Goose Fair, checking parking restrictions and available parking before travelling could help avoid a PCN or the possibility of having a vehicle removed. Event parking can become particularly difficult when large numbers of visitors arrive at the same time, so planning a suitable parking space before setting off can make the journey less stressful.
