Parking machines at 13 Vale of White Horse District Council car parks will temporarily stop accepting cash from 28 September to 6 October while new machines are installed. Drivers can still pay using bank cards, PayByPhone or text, with cash payments returning once the installation is complete.
Oxfordshire Parking Machines Will Temporarily Stop Accepting Cash Drivers using 13 car parks in Oxfordshire are being warned that parking machines will temporarily stop accepting cash while new machines are installed. The change affects car parks controlled by Vale of White Horse District Council in Abingdon, Faringdon and Wantage. The temporary change will run from Monday 28 September until Tuesday 6 October, according to the council. During this period, drivers will still be able to pay for parking using bank cards, the PayByPhone app or by text. The council said details of the text payment option will be displayed on the parking machines at the affected car parks. The temporary cash restriction is linked to the installation of new parking ticket machines across all 13 car parks. Once the installation work is complete, the machines will again accept cash payments alongside card payments. The council said drivers will also continue to have the option of using the PayByPhone app after the new machines are installed. For motorists who normally carry cash specifically for parking, the temporary change means it will be important to have an alternative payment method available when visiting the affected car parks. The change also highlights how important it is for drivers to check how a particular car park accepts payment before leaving their vehicle, particularly when travelling somewhere unfamiliar. A failed or unavailable payment option can create unnecessary pressure when a driver is trying to park, so checking the available methods before arriving can make the process easier. Drivers heading to Abingdon, Faringdon or Wantage between 28 September and 6 October should therefore be prepared to pay by card, PayByPhone or text rather than cash. Planning parking before a journey can also help drivers avoid last-minute searches and identify suitable parking options before they reach their destination. EveryonesParking helps drivers find and plan parking before travelling, giving motorists a way to prepare for parking in unfamiliar areas rather than leaving the search until they arrive.
