Plymouth City Council has proposed new parking restrictions on Salisbury Road, including double yellow lines and a goods loading bay operating from 8am to 4pm. The consultation is open until 9 October 2026, with the final decision still to be made.
Plymouth Salisbury Road Parking Restrictions Proposed as Council Opens Consultation Plymouth City Council has proposed new and amended parking restrictions on Salisbury Road, with changes planned around the junction with Cecil Avenue Lane West. The proposals have been published through a statutory notice, giving residents, businesses and other affected road users until 9 October 2026 to submit comments. What parking changes are proposed? The draft Traffic Regulation Order includes a new section of double yellow lines on the south side of Salisbury Road near its junction with Cecil Avenue Lane West. The proposed No Waiting At Any Time restriction would cover 5.5 metres of road in a westerly direction from the junction. The council is also proposing a dedicated goods loading bay on the south-east side of Salisbury Road. The loading bay would operate between 8am and 4pm and would extend for 11 metres from a point 5.5 metres from the junction. The proposed changes form part of an order titled the City of Plymouth (Traffic Regulation Orders) (Amendment Order No. 2026.2137362 - Salisbury Road). The notice covers sections of Salisbury Road near postcodes PL4 8QP and PL4 8QZ, with two further nearby locations also referenced in the order documents. Drivers and residents can have their say The statutory notice was dated 18 September, while the consultation period remains open until Friday, 9 October 2026. Anyone who believes they may be affected can submit a representation, provided they give the grounds for their objection or comment. The full order, plans, any amended orders and the council's statement of reasons are available through Plymouth City Council's website. People without internet access can request a hard copy of the documents by contacting the council on 01752 668000. Comments can be submitted online or in writing to the Service Director for Street Services at Plymouth Highways, Plymouth City Council, Ballard House, West Hoe Road, Plymouth, PL1 3BJ. Anyone responding by post should quote reference Amd.2026.2137362 Salisbury Road so the representation can be linked to the correct proposal. No implementation date has been confirmed The proposed restrictions are not yet confirmed and there is currently no implementation date for the changes. Plymouth City Council will consider representations received during the consultation before deciding whether to make, modify or abandon the order. If the order is eventually made, the council would then publish a making notice before the new restrictions are introduced through signs and road markings. For drivers who regularly use Salisbury Road, checking the final decision and any updated signs will therefore be important before assuming the proposed restrictions have come into force. With parking restrictions changing on individual roads, drivers can also avoid unnecessary problems by checking the rules and available parking before travelling, particularly when visiting an unfamiliar part of Plymouth. For motorists looking for parking before a journey, EveryonesParking can help make it easier to plan where to leave the car rather than relying on finding a space after arriving.
