A Stroud town centre car park is introducing new barriers, ANPR cameras and mobile-app parking payments. Drivers will need a valid payment session, including for overnight stays, while a £100 parking charge notice can be issued for non-payment.
Stroud Car Park Introduces ANPR Cameras, Barriers and £100 Parking Charge A Stroud town centre car park is getting new barriers and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras as part of an upgrade to its parking system. The Carlton Club has confirmed that Total Car Parks will install the new equipment, with vehicles required to be removed from the site before the work begins. The changes will also introduce a new payment system, with motorists required to pay for parking through a mobile app. New ANPR system changes how drivers park The upgraded car park will use ANPR cameras to monitor vehicles entering and using the site, alongside new barriers and updated signage. The Carlton Club said the changes are intended to provide a smoother and more secure parking experience for users. Drivers will be able to choose from several parking options, including hourly, two-hour, four-hour, all-day and annual passes. However, motorists will need to make sure they have paid for their stay through the mobile app. £100 charge for unpaid parking Under the new system, a £100 parking charge notice will be issued for non-payment. The requirement also applies to vehicles left overnight, which will need to have a valid payment session. This means drivers using the car park outside normal daytime periods will still need to make sure their parking has been paid for where required. The barriers will remain raised from 6pm until the early hours to support evening events, but the Carlton Club says parking charges will still apply during this period. Drivers need to check the new system The introduction of ANPR and app-based payment means drivers will need to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements before leaving their vehicles. The club has warned that vehicles currently parked at the site must be removed before the installation work takes place. Once the new system is operating, drivers will need to use the designated mobile payment method and ensure their parking session covers the time they remain in the car park. The availability of different parking periods, including annual passes, gives drivers several options depending on how frequently they use the site. For occasional visitors, checking the tariff and completing payment through the app will be particularly important before leaving the vehicle. What the new parking system means The changes bring together physical barriers, ANPR cameras and mobile payments at the Stroud car park. While the barriers will be raised during evening events, drivers should not assume that this means parking is free, as charges will continue to apply. For motorists using the Carlton Club car park, the key change is therefore not simply the installation of new cameras and barriers, but the introduction of a system where payment and a valid parking session will be essential to avoid a £100 parking charge.
