Gainsborough and Market Rasen Parking Plans Open to Public Consultation

West Lindsey Council Seeks Views on Future Parking in Gainsborough and Market Rasen Drivers, residents, businesses and visitors are being asked for their views on the future of council-owned car parks in Gainsborough and Market Rasen. West Lindsey District Council has launched its Car Parking 2026 Consultation, asking people who use the car parks to share their experiences and views on future parking provision. The consultation covers council-owned car parks in both towns and is intended to help the council understand how the sites are currently being used. It will also gather views on possible improvements and how future parking charges can continue to support local communities, town centres and economic growth. The council is encouraging anyone who regularly uses the car parks, as well as occasional users and visitors, to take part before the consultation closes. Drivers have until 26 October to respond The Car Parking 2026 Consultation closes at 9am on Monday 26 October 2026, giving local parking users several weeks to submit their views. The council has not set out specific future parking charges as part of the announcement. Instead, the consultation is focused on gathering feedback to help inform future arrangements. For drivers, consultations such as this can be an important opportunity to raise practical issues around parking, including how council car parks are used and where improvements may be needed. The consultation comes as West Lindsey also asks residents, businesses and others for views through a separate budget consultation covering its approach to setting a balanced budget for 2027 to 2028 and Council Tax. Chairman of the Thriving Places Committee, Councillor Peter Morris, said car parks play an important role in supporting town centres, businesses and local communities. He said the council wants to understand what works well, what could be improved and how parking provision can support the district in the years ahead. The council is specifically seeking feedback from a wide range of people, including residents, businesses, visitors and car park users. For drivers who regularly visit Gainsborough or Market Rasen, this means the consultation provides a chance to comment on the parking facilities they actually use rather than waiting for future changes to be introduced. Anyone planning trips to the two towns can also benefit from checking parking options before travelling, particularly where different council and private parking facilities may be available. EveryonesParking can help drivers plan ahead by making it easier to find suitable parking before reaching their destination, reducing the need to search for a space after arriving. The West Lindsey consultation is now open, with responses due by 9am on 26 October. Any future changes to parking arrangements will depend on how the council considers the feedback received through the consultation.
